Piecework Type
Piecework, also known as piece rate pay, is a type of compensation system where workers are paid based on the quantity of work they complete, rather than the hours they work. This means that workers are paid a set amount for each unit of production, such as a garment sewn, a piece of furniture assembled, or a document translated.
There are two main types of piecework:
- Single rate: Workers are paid a fixed amount for each unit produced, regardless of the quality or difficulty of the work.
- Differential/Group rate: Workers are paid different amounts for different units produced, based on the difficulty or complexity of the work.
